Amazon presents its newest and largest office to date in India

The online American multinational technology company Amazon that’s based in Seattle, Washington has just opened it’s largest office in India.
On Wednesday Amazon presented its huge building in Hyderabad, India, notwithstanding America being its home base.
Hyderabad is known to be the city’s financial district and was the first point of entry for Amazon into India in 2004 making India the country that has the largest establishment of Amazon.
And on commenting on the lunch of the new building in Hyderabad amazon said

“the new campus in India, spread over 9.5 acres, cost hundreds of millions of dollars and could house more than 15,000 employees. Amazon has 62,000 employees in India, roughly a third of whom are based in Hyderabad.”

The company also has 155,000 contract workers in the country, making India its biggest base outside the United States and also the first office outside the US that Amazon fully owns.

Amit Agarwal, the company’s India head, also said in a statement regarding the opening of the India office

“This new Amazon campus building is a tangible commitment to that long-term thinking and our plans for India,”
According to CNN Bussiness,
“The prize is huge. India has over 600 million internet users, but the majority of its population still isn’t online. Amazon is trying to cash in on that potential by looking to expand its grocery business, creating more Indian content for its Prime Video streaming service and even making its mobile app available in India’s most popular language, Hindi.”
And it is also known that Hyderabad is the home to other big global names, including Microsoft’s(MSFT) India headquarters and Ikea’s first India store.
Which means that Amazon choosing India for the largest establishment was well planned indeed.
